Removing foliage from a tree has two effects.
1. Reduction of photosynthesis which reduces overall growth.
2. Growth that occurs takes place on fewer shoots so they
grow healthier this is called shoot invigoration.
Reason for pruning
1. To remove dead branches.
2. Remove crowded or crossing limbs that may create future
structural problems.
3. To elimate hazards.
4. To increase light penetration and reduce wind resistance.
5. Corrective or preventive nature.
