with the proper nutrients. The single most important preventive
measure you can take to enhance the health, beauty and vigor of
your trees and shrubs is to fertilize.
Why fertilize?
Trees and shrubs in your landscape are actually existing in a
foreign environment, lacking the nutrients found in the rich layer
of humus occurring naturally on the forest floor. In your landscape
- where there is limited natural fertilizer. Don't count on your
lawn fertilizer to help. An insignificant amount - if any - will
filter down to the tree roots. Tree roots must now reach out to
obtain the nutrients they need. Obstacles such as compacted soil,
rock ledges, buildings, pools, and paving often impede their ability
to obtain nutrients.
When to fertilize?
Before the warning signs of nutrient deficiency are visible and the
plants' health has been compromised. Bob's Tree Service arborists can diagnose
the situation and recommend the optimum time to fertilize. Trees receiving
regular applications of essential nutrient look better and live longer.
What Fertilizer to use?
Bob's Tree Service uses a variety of fertilizers: Arbor Green®, Macron®, or
Dogget® . They fertilizers have a combination of quick- and slow-release
nitrogen applied directly into the root zone for maximum absorption. Excellent
growth response is provided when fertilizers contain the proper ratio of nitrogen,
phosphorus and potassium. The fertilizer should also contain micronutrients, such
as iron and magnesium.
